Brian R. Hoke, DPT, SCS
Licensed Physical Therapist
Sports Medicine Clinical Specialist
Brian is the Director of the First Colonial office of Atlantic Physical Therapy, PC. Brian received his degree in Physical Therapy with Highest Distinction from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1981. He received his post-professional Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Boston University in 2006. Brian is a board certified Clinical Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy, a distinction achieved by less than 600 physical therapists in the U.S.
Brian's professional experience includes work with all levels of athletes from the recreational runner to elite professional and Olympic athletes. He has contributed chapters to two textbooks on the treatment of running injuries.
In addition to his clinical and administrative responsibilities, Brian is actively involved in Physical Therapy education. He is an Adjunct Faculty Member of Physical Therapy Programs at Old Dominion University and Touro College on Long Island, NY. In addition, Brian has been a faculty member of the popular continuing medical education seminar "When the Feet Hit the Ground, Everything Changes" since 1985. He was a co-developer of the Advanced Course "Take the Next Step" and has taught this course since 1990 (for course and registration information, click here). Brian has presented over 250 seminars in the U.S., and has also given presentations in Great Britain, Canada, Germany, Australia and New Zealand.
Brian and his wife, Paula, have four children: Robert, Emily, David and Stephanie. Brian resides in Virginia Beach and is a recreational runner and avid golfer.

David Volkringer, MPT, OCS
Licensed Physical Therapist Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopedics
Mr. Volkringer is originally from New York where he was employed as a certified personal trainer and director of fitness in a sports medicine facility. He attended Virginia Tech where he received Bachelors in Architecture. In 1996, he moved to Virginia Beach and joined the team of Atlantic Sports Medicine. Shortly thereafter, he earned his Masters in Physical Therapy from Old Dominion University while serving as president of his class and graduating with honors. In early 2003, he was recognized as a board certified specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy.
In 2006 he was recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association as a Certified Clinical Instructor. Additionally, he serves as Adjunct Faculty in the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program at Old Dominion University. In 2004 he developed a continuing education course for licensed physical therapists on the mechanics of the pelvis and lower extremities that he teaches nationally several times a year (for course and registration information, click here). Mr. Volkringer's special areas of interest include lower quarter biomechanics and rehabilitation of pelvic, hip and foot injuries. He is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association's Sports Section and is licensed to practice in the State of Virginia. He resides with his wife Carol and two children, Michael and Samantha, in Virginia Beach and enjoys spending free time running and playing golf.

Michele Nielsen, DPT
Licensed Physical Therapist
Michele is a native of Virginia Beach and has been employed with Atlantic Physical Therapy since August 2000. She graduated from First Colonial High School in 1996 and from there attended Old Dominion University majoring in Exercise Science. After graduating from Old Dominion she joined the APT team as an exercise specialist. Following three years of full-time experience at Atlantic she returned to Old Dominion where she earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. She has now been a physical therapist at Atlantic Physical Therapy since May 2006. Michele has a special interest in Dance Medicine. She was a competitive dancer with Denise Wall's Dance Energy in high school and has continued to enjoy the art post-competition. She recently attended a course on dance medicine in New York City and plans to continue pursuing this branch of physical therapy. Michele resides in Virginia Beach with her husband Adam.

Dolores Fitzpatrick
Patient Account Coordinator
Dolores is a native of Staten Island, New York. She moved to Virginia Beach in 1996. Dolores is a graduate of St. John’s University. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Administration with a minor in Business. She also earned a Master’s Degree in Health Services Administration from Central Michigan University. Before moving to Virginia Beach, Dolores taught Health and Physical Education in a New York High School. After moving to Virginia Beach, she worked at the Kempsville Recreation Center, first in the Athletic Department and then as a Recreation Specialist in the Youth/ Adult Unit. She was the director at the Senior Center. She is also an ACE Certified Personal Trainer. |

Patrice Davis
Front Office Coordinator
Patrice has lived in Virginia since 1994 and is currently attending Norfolk State University. Upon graduation, she plans on continuing her education in the medical field. Patrice joined the Atlantic Physical Therapy staff in March 2004, after spending 1.5 years as a medical receptionist at a Family Practice Office.

Shariff Rudolph
Exercise Specialist
A native of Boston, Massachusetts went to Boston College where he received a degree in Psychology. He is currently the Head Track and Field coach at Cape Henry Collegiate School.
In college he was a Division I long and triple jumper and at present is still training on a high level. Outside of work Shariff enjoys training extensively in Martial Arts plus artwork of various kinds.

Mike Maugeri
Exercise Specialist
Mike was born and raised in Virginia Beach. He graduated from First Colonial High School in 2001 where he played varsity soccer, volleyball, and swimming. He is a 2006 graduate of James Madison University with a B.S. in Health Science. Mike has worked at Atlantic Physical Therapy since June of 2006 and plans to pursue a career in physical therapy in the near future. In his spare time, Mike enjoys relaxing at the beach, surfing, working out, playing guitar, and playing with his dog, Lexi.
