Dr. Lucas Johnson earned his undergraduate degree in Kinesiology from the University of Maryland in 1999. He went on to earn a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Old Dominion University in 2007 and joined the Atlantic Physical Therapy team at our Newtown Road office, where he is now the facility Director.

In 2012, Lucas became a board certified Clinical Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy. His clinical interests include biomechanics of the lower extremity and rehabilitation of the overhead athlete. Lucas works with individuals who enjoy active lifestyles and sports, including recreational, scholastic, masters, and elite level athletes. Lucas is the Medical Director of the Excalibur Cup, an elite level multi-day gymnastics event held annually in Virginia Beach. He coordinates on-site medical coverage with physicians, certified athletic trainers, physical therapists, emergency medical professionals and volunteers.

Lucas remains active in Physical Therapy education as an Adjunct Professor for the School of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training at Old Dominion University. He also lectures in the Tidewater community on sport related injuries. He lives in Norfolk and enjoys distance running and spending time with his wife and three daughters.
