Walking and Running Video Gait Analysis

Fast Facts
When we run, our foot only contacts the ground for 0.2 sec., requiring slow motion video to accurately see the patterns of motion

The analysis of walking and running will utilize several views to accurately assess the three dimensional nature of these movements. The gait analysis will include visualizing the patterns of movement in the trunk, hips, legs and feet. It can be done both barefoot and while wearing shoes. In some cases, the gait pattern in different shoes will be assessed to see what choice appears to be best suited to the individual.

Walking and running gait analysis are often coupled with the services we provide for biomechanical lower extremity assessment and custom foot orthotics. In addition, repeat gait analysis can help us to evaluate the effectiveness of our treatment interventions.

The use of technology in gait analysis can help us better identify patterns of movement that are associated with injuries and poor sports performance

Gait analysis is the scientific study of how we walk and run. The professional staff of Atlantic Physical Therapy are trained experts in the field of walking and running gait. The analysis is a careful visual observation of gait, and if needed it can be aided by using high speed motion capture and computer analysis. The use of technology in gait analysis can help us better identify patterns of movement that are associated with injuries and poor sports performance.
